Roots
ROOTS was very much a work in progress, like all life, until the spring of 2022.
Life is a constant state of change and echoes the simple truth that Time is changeless but changes everything. For me, Time is divine because it knows everything that ever was and all that is as it carries us into our ever pending future.
For this reason, every canvas is a work in progress until I sign it. But I have to admit that even when my signature is placed, it doesn’t mean something won’t change if I get close enough!
When friends come over, they usually want to see what’s new or in the works. My sister Jytte cautions them to not get attached, sharing that she’s learned the hard way not to fall in love with anything because there’s an 80% chance it won’t be there when you return.
I don’t create to please myself or anyone else. A canvas, sheet of paper, or blank document is a place to feel, think, and actually work out what I’m hearing. If I can’t find or figure it out, more than likely it goes the way of my ‘White Paint Rule’, “There’s no such thing as a mistake because there’s always more white paint!”
Have you ever thought about how many lives you live in one lifetime? I do, especially given that there are three paintings under what you see on the canvas here!
