Art is essential to my soul.

Creating something beautiful grounds my body and tethers my spirit to the planet in a way that I am free to fly… even on days when my heart is heavy and longs for Home. 

The night before flying from Spain to Denmark for the 2019 holidays, dear friends from Amsterdam came to visit. Seeing ‘Falling Leaves’, and proofs for The Nine, Jacqueline asked me to imagine and create an owl.

Her request resonated as years ago three Hawaiian kahunas (shaman) told me the Pueo, the white owl, was my amakua, spiritual guide. This was doubly meaningful as in 1994, Nechung Kuten, the Dalai Lama’s spiritual advisor, told me the light of the Pattern would become visible when the world grew dark. 

Responding to Jacqueline’s request, I breathed life into this, my proof of La Chouette. It helped me keep my heart open and brain occupied over that holidays season, a time that was intense, filled with emotional challenges. Painting her was an inspiring and powerful experience, as it often felt she was working on me.
